Job Duties Responsibilities GEICO – a proven online and mobile industry leader -- seeks a highly motivated, experienced Microsoft Systems Engineer to join our growing Middleware Microsoft team. As a Microsoft Systems Engineer, you will responsible for developing, testing, implementing, provisioning, deploying and supporting Microsoft platform solutions and onboarding multi-tier applications that are hosted within the Microsoft Technology Engineering environments. You will provide support to Application teams to make sure that all Infrastructure needs are met, from inception to production. You will be responsible for Web Administration for both internal and public web sites. You will work with Microsoft Platforms including IIS, .Net Framework, AppFabric, Powershell and Biztalk, as well as non-Microsoft platforms including Coherence, MQ Series. You will develop standards and governance for Microsoft platform configurations for applications within Microsoft's Dynamic Data Center. You will provide level 2 support for Microsoft Platforms in MTE supported environments including non-business hours and 7/24 production support expectations. Candidate Qualifications • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a systems engineering role is required
• Strong understanding of the Microsoft platforms including Windows Server 2008 2012, .Net Framework 3.5 higher, IIS 7.5 higher, SQL Server, BizTalk, AppFabric, Azure, MS WebDeploy, Powershell 4.0, and TFS 2010/2013 is required
• Experience developing PowerShell scripts to manage Microsoft Technologies is required
• Hands on experience on IIS Administration, Configuration and Troubleshooting is required
• Ability to research, analyze, develop, and implement large scale enterprise solutions using Microsoft technologies is required
• Ability to manage day to day activities with moderate to minimal support of lead is required
• Ability to escalate and resolve issues when appropriate is required
• Good understanding of Private Cloud concepts and frameworks is desired
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - including verbal, written, and presentation is required
• Ability to tailor communication to audience is required
• Understanding of the concerns involved in infrastructure and operations management is required
• Broad understanding of enterprise web based technologies/applications is desired
• Familiarity with software/applications deployments is required
• Supported production applications via on call/on call rotation is a plus
• High level understanding of IT Service Management, ITIL, MOF is a plus
• Understanding of service oriented concepts and frameworks is desired
• Experience with planning, designing, implementing, and managing solutions using the Microsoft Software Suite is a plus
• Exposure to the Microsoft System Center suite, including Virtual Machine Manager, Configuration Manager, Operations Manager, Service Manager is desired
