Responsible and accountable for coordinatoring the delivery of care for medical/surgical patients so that the physical, psychosocial, safety and learning needs of the patients and their families are addressed. Serves as patient advocate. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care and services, professional committment, courtesy, teamwork, strong interpersonal skills, good public relations and a broad knowledge of the nursing process.
The first free-standing facility in the nation to offer state-of-the-art perinatal and medical/surgical services combining the luxury of a fine hotel with the security of a licensed accredited hospital, the Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center of Santa Cruz offer 30 licensed beds, five large operating rooms and an endo-procedure room. Specializing in surgical/medical services and obstetrical services, the center provides additional health care services such as diagnostic imaging, pain management, physical therapy, cardiology, pediatrics and prostate treatment. The center's family-centered birthing services offer 12 labor, delivery, recovery and post partum suites and delivers 775 babies annually.
