Property Engineer / Plumber

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
•To maintain and repair the hotel's boilers/chillers (building systems)
•Assist tradesmen when needed
•Must be able to do ordering through vendors and source out the products
•Have complete knowledge of hotel and residence fire standards and procedures
•Report broken or misused equipment to Maintenance Office
•Should have thorough knowledge of the boilers, chillers, air handling units, fan coil units, compressors, pumps, heat pumps, hot water tanks
•Should be able to do/help in doing preventive maintenance on the mechanical equipment like boilers, chillers, air handling units, fan coil units, compressors, pumps
•Must be able to take care of boilers and other associated equipment maintenance and overhaul as per ABSA standards
•Maintain compliance of all H&S programs
•Maintain accurate reports and logs as per the hotel requirements
•Maintain a safe and hazard free work environment
•Hand tool requirements as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement
•Must respond as part of the Emergency Response Team
•Actively participate in the hotel environmental program
•Other assigned duties as necessary to fulfill the scope and general purpose of job
•Working knowledge of BMS and on low voltage controls



•Must possess a 4th or 5th Class Power Engineer ticket
•Journeyman Plumber with Class 4 or 5 ticket will be preferred
•Working knowledge of computerized Building Maintenance Systems is an asset
•Working knowledge of HVAC, boilers and A.H.U. systems and chiller operations
•Must possess a valid drivers license for Canada
•Minor plumbing and electrical knowledge to resolve the issues with the equipment
•Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
•Computer literacy required: Word, Excel and Outlook
•Must be able to work effectively in a high pace environment
•Strong communication skills and a willingness to work in a team environment
•Must be willing to learn, self motivated and be comfortable working in a technically demanding environment
•Further training will be required as it relates to property specific systems (FCLL – JTC)
