Major responsibilities - Draft relevant year-end reports, as well as weekly, monthly, and quarterly ones, for department heads - Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages as part of report preparation - Provide help with all internal and external audits of payroll - Reviewing and verifying source documents - Proper payroll information maintenance by collecting, calculating, and entering data - Collect and analyze information including resolving payroll discrepancies - Certify compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines - Promote employee confidence by protecting payroll operations and keeping information confidential - Take charge of all questions and requests related to payroll - Reconcile employee deductions and other liabilities as needed - Continue implementation of established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations, reporting changes where necessary - Detail all payroll liabilities by establishing employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payment - Payroll record maintenance by tracking changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers - Handle other duties as necessary

Requirements

- Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills - Understanding of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen - Dependability in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills in particular - Capable of managing high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc. - 2+ years of strong payroll experience - Command of Ceridian - Solid understanding of payroll for over 500 employees - Expertise in federal and state payroll regulations and requirements - Understanding of internal controls - Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data - Experience using accounting software - Preference will be given to Certified Payroll detail oriented
