An up-and-coming firm has teamed up with Accountemps to find an efficient Staff Accountant to join their growing team. The responsibilities of a Staff Accountant entail preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. When it's time for the monthly close, you'll be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting. This position will also require you to participate in compliance, as well as communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. The organization offering this multi-faceted long-term temporary opportunity is based in the Detroit, Michigan region, and provides a terrific work environment where effort is rewarded. Major responsibilities - Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation - Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision - Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management - Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll - Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation - Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed - Be a part of various department-wide initiatives - Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner - Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP - Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules


- Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment - Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics - Expertise in Annual Budget - Microsoft Excel experience desired - Deep understanding of Fixed Asset Accounting - Knowledgeable of ERP systems - Great attention to detail - Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills - Spreadsheet and database capabilities - Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required - Recent and relevant accounting experience - Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases - Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
