The Laboratory Client Services Coordinator performs administrative duties for efficient laboratory operations. This position assists with the collection, handling and preparation of specimens for laboratory testing as directed and according to established departmental standards. Duties include verification and labeling of specimens, handling and transporting specimens, preparation of slides, and maintaining necessary supplies. This role may include the dispatch, coordination of collection, and transport of laboratory specimens according to established procedures, in a manner that supports quality patient care. Participation in an on-call and weekend rotation as needed may be required.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation. QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or highest level of degree required
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: BLSHCP required effective 1/1/2021, existing incumbents with HSAED will be required to renew with BLSHCP all new hires effective this same date are required to have BLSHCP within 6 months of hire or transfer.
EXPERIENCE: Valid Drivers License required. ASCP/Phlebotomy certification or registry eligible preferred. Previous hospital phlebotomy experience may be substituted for certification. Incumbents working in a phlebotomist role must maintain 12 CEUs annually. Current Heart Saver AED certification required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer.
Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
