The Surgery Center Billing Representative processes all patient accounts for their designated area in order to procure payments from third party and patient pay accounts. The Representative ensures the accuracy of patient records, and compliance with State and Federal Regulations. The Representative verifies patient insurance, collects deductibles, and arranges payment plans. This position assists patients with questions regarding bills, insurance, and alternative payment plans

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE: 1 year prior experience in hospital billing office or billing, insurance, or other related healthcare field. Must have some computer skills and have working knowledge of medical terminology.
Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Position requires sitting at a desk/computer a majority of the day and frequent walking, standing and reaching. This position also may require the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Works with equipment such as computer terminal, fax machine, printer and copier.
