Job Description
BAE Systems provides engineering and technical services to a US federal government agency that in turn provides cyber infrastructure protection for U.S. Civilian Government agencies, State and Local government, and U.S. critical infrastructure. Our effort includes solution planning and engineering, defining requirements, development target architectures, interoperability and integration, system testing, verification and validation, studies and analysis, post-deployment security validation, and project risk management. As part of this team, you will contribute to the engineering of current and emerging cybersecurity systems, policies, and processes to enforce standards and identify vulnerabilities and capability gaps, and reduce cybersecurity risk of our customer networks.

PRIMARY DUTIES: In this role, you will report directly to the Chief Architect. You will interface directly with government stakeholders to provide solutions engineering, tradeoff analysis, and feasibility assessments. You will examine enterprise level usage characteristics for potential systems, and propose alternatives that meet requirements. You will perform prototypes, creating test systems in cloud infrastructure. You will draw on your experience with commercial cloud providers (e.g, AWS, Azure) to facilitate strategies and roadmaps. You will interview stakeholders, document requirements, and create architectural artifacts that describe

OTHER DUTIES: You will provide additional contributions to data standards, plans, reviews, and for data quality management; this specifically includes alignment of standards with Customer data and data technology standards, guidance for project alignment with Government-sponsored programs' architecture, guidance for project coordination with security leads, guidance for data development plans, processes and criteria for data design reviews, guidance for data integration and test, guidance for project transition into production, guidance for data operations plans including data technology and data storage management, processes and criteria for data operations assessment, and audit and other data quality processes

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • 10 years working experience
  • 7 years past experience working with enterprise-scale information technology, including designs for large scale systems
  • 3 years past experience working with public cloud technology (e.g, AWS and Azure)
  • Strong written, design, and verbal communication skills


Preferred Skills and Education
  • Broad understanding of cyber security technologies and how they fit in large scale enterprises is preferred
  • Formal security certifications such as CISSP is highly desired (with the purpose of helping secure cloud architectures)
  • Past experience working as a consultant with government customers is welcomed
  • Past training or experience in government acquisition lifecycle framework (ALF) is welcomed
  • Past training or experience in government systems engineering lifecycle (SELC) is welcomed
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training/certification, or work/military experience. Armed Services technical personnel are highly welcomed. Amazon and Microsoft Cloud certifications are highly welcomed.
