Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for a qualified professional to join our team for an exciting opportunity supporting sustainment efforts for the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile weapon system. The Minuteman III is a 1970s era weapon system and is scheduled to be retained as the United States military's prompt, global strike deterrent system until at least 2030. This activity is identified as the Integration Support Contract (ISC). The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager has a unique opportunity to lead a team in enhancing the BAE's Quality Management System and improve the company's position continued growth and excellence. The position is located at Hill AFB, Utah.

The Quality assurance manager plays a crucial role in the organization by ensuring that products meet certain thresholds of acceptability. The QA manager plans, directs, and coordinates quality assurance programs and formulates quality control policies. The QA Manager also works to improve the organization's efficiency and profitability by reducing waste. Specific responsibilities and competencies include:

  • Oversee the Quality Management System

Stay abreast of internal, external and international rules and regulations pertaining to the business area. This includes AS9100 and CMMI 2.0 for Services.

  • Lead Teams

Promote a culture and inspire the organization to adopt a quality mindset and challenge teams to be critical, disciplined, and continually strive for excellence. Lead the QA team in the review, analysis, and reporting of quality discrepancies and data related to production.

  • Reporting

Present and report data to leadership on recurring basis.

  • Corrective Actions

Lead investigations into identified problems and develop disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies

  • Process Improvement

Lead process improvement efforts to include development of corrective actions, dispositions, process optimization, and modifications

  • Supervise staff

Supervise, train, and mentor assigned staff, to include direct reports and matrixed personnel. Conduct hiring, terminations, and other related people management functions.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
  • BS and 8+ years experience or Masters and 6+ years experience;

  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS 9100, and CMMI 2.0 SVC Standards;

  • Hands on experience in risk management and analysis;

  • Process metrics and analysis

  • Working knowledge of root cause analysis, problem solving and statistical methods as applied to process and product quality.

  • Reliability assessment experience and statistical analysis skills including a working knowledge of CPI/LSS tools and techniques

  • Hands on knowledge in the effective use of Corrective and Preventative actions

  • Technical problems solving

  • Inspection and testing techniques

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Access

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • A self-starter with the ability to work independent

  • Communication skills: oral, writing, and presentation


The applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. An active Secret clearance is preferred but not required.



Preferred Skills and Education
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

  • BS/MS in an Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited University

  • Knowledge and experience of nuclear weapon systems, specifically ICBM MMIII

  • Experience with Air Force Weapon Systems OSS&E roles and responsibilities

  • Lead Auditor certification in ISO9001 or AS9100

  • Experience auditing Quality Management Systems conformance for internal/external business entities

  • Experience with the Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model
