This position is controlled by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards ACT (FLSA).
SCA Hazardous Material Supply Technician. Manages and processes hazardous material, issues, receipt, transaction posting, inventory and reporting for Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) owned Prime Contractor material in the Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Program. Responsible for the management of open requisition files through to the final issue. Analyzes, conducts causative research and reconciles differences between inventory count and stock records.
Reviews stock records for items with service or shelf life to ensure their serviceability and directs action to extend shelf life when applicable or make adjustments for disposal to the government customer. Processes required documents, requests, disposition for unserviceable/repairable/unlabeled items and assets in excess of the stocking objectives established in Navy ERP, manages the documentation processing from receipt through final storage point.
Prepares routine correspondence and reports to include monthly, weekly, and daily summary e-mails. Covering requisition status, MILSTRIP ORDERS, referrals and special reports for both on and off station movements of SSP material. Professionally and effectively communicates with others at all levels within and outside BAE SYSTEMS. Establishes priority and carries out assignments effectively to ensure quality work is completed in a timely manner. Works as the team leader in the accomplishments of the section goals.
Typical Education & Experience
2 years of Warehousing or Large scale Receiving Operations. Experience working with special commodities (e.g. Precious metals, Repairable Materials, Shelf life Materials, Hazardous Materials, Classified Materials, Ordnance etc.) Possess a valid driver License. Ability to lift 40 LBS in weight. Ability to work independently and as part of a team on specific tasks.
Required Skills and Education
Two years of Warehousing or large scale Receiving Operations.
Experience working with special commodities (e.g. Precious metals, Repairable Materials, Shelf life Materials, Hazardous Materials, Classified Materials, Ordnance etc.)
Possess a valid driver License.
Ability to lift 40 LBS in weight.

Utilize and interpret the 49 CFR Parts 100 to 185, IATA/ICAO, IMDG, and AFJMAN 24-204 to prepare, package and certify all classes (2 - 9) of hazardous materials for shipment domestically and internationally for all modes of transportation. Prepare paperwork and certify final transportation documentation. Prepare, package and certify Class 1 (Explosives) to include all divisions from mass explosives to minor explosive hazard (1.1, 1.2, 1.3and 1.4) in all classification and compatibility groups. Research numerous directives from all sources to include but not limited to: 49CFR, IATA/ICAO, AFJMAN 24-204, OP5, JHCS, SWO's, NOSSA instructions, etc. for classification information, packaging requirements, segregation, explosive weights, etc..
Requires a good working knowledge of the references relating to SSP Stock Point Operations, a general understanding of supply regulations, policies and procedures of the department of the Navy, and extensive reading comprehension skills and knowledge of the logistical terminology used in the Naval Supply system. Requires analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect the necessary data to establish the facts, and recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines. Requires working knowledge of MICROSOFT WORD & EXCEL programs. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
