Job Description

BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 company, is growing in our Combat Vehicles business and we have an immediate opening for a Senior Embedded Systems Cyber Security Engineer to support our Combat Vehicles program. Note: Any Combat Vehicles Engineering Site is an acceptable work location: Sterling Heights, MI (preferred); Minneapolis, MN; San Jose, CA; Phoenix, AZ; or York, PA.

In this role, the Cyber Security Systems Engineer will:

  • Perform cyber security tasks in support of Combat Vehicles to include embedded vehicle cyber security implementation, testing, and mitigating issues from testing.
  • ​Analyze cyber security requirements and controls, support development of risk mitigation plans for vulnerability, and support certification and evaluation effort.
  • Support design and development of cyber security architecture and documentation.
  • Perform network scans with existing network scanning tools
  • Communicate with customers, peers, subcontractors, and management for status, etc. Participate in cybersecurity working groups and Integrated Product Teams.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
  • Experience or familiarity with networks, especially with Ethernet architecture and associated protocols
  • Ability to analyze the system risks and vulnerabilities of the network devices on various networks
  • Be able to read and understand vehicle electronics (vetronics) architecture diagrams and develop detailed cyber security architecture diagrams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated systems thinking skills (i.e., ability to recognize how changes at the component level can impact the overall system and vice versa)
  • Experience with software languages, including C, C++, Java, and Python
Required Education:
Bachelor degree from an accredited university in computer engineering or similar field with the following experience:
4+ Years' experience with BS
2+ Years' experience with MS

Preferred Skills and Education
  • Familiar with the Department of Defense Information Assurance/Cyber Security requirements and certification process.
  • Familiar with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process
  • Ability to apply the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) controls and policies, and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to the system design and implementation
  • Understand or have working knowledge of Cross Domain Solution
  • Experience with Linux Operating System and scripting
  • Experience with military vehicle systems
  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
