Role Summary:

In this role Sr. Software Engineer (Backend), you will:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop the tools, services, and build solutions on the Avitas Systems inspection Platform
  • Work with groundbreaking technologies, taking advantage of open-source initiatives and third-party services, to provide the best developer experience
  • Be expected to be a self-starter, innovative and always looking for new ways to contribute to the team
  • Analyze and optimize frontend and backend code, and pursue simplicity, efficiency, reliability and performance
  • Use independent judgment to take existing code, understand its function and change / enhance as needed
  • Design, implement and maintain business-critical systems
  • Work closely with other engineers to ensure that systems meets reliability, accuracy and performance goals
  • Be able to independently design, code and test complex features
  • Help identify and fix performance, scalability and other issues in a time critical manner
  • Be adept in scrum and agile practices and apply them in day-today's work
  • Promote transparency by proactively sharing design choices with appropriate audiences, with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness
  • Demonstrate expert understanding of functional and non-functional requirements and their priority within the backlog
  • Continuously expand technical knowledge, keep abreast of emerging software technologies and apply them to software development automation

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor' Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software industry

Desired Characteristics:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in software industry is preferred
  • You have thorough hands-on experience developing software, primarily with object-oriented languages such as JAVA / J2EE
  • Comfortable with at least one backend programming language Go, NodeJS, Python, Java
  • Expertise working with thoughtfully designed Restful APIs and micro-services using Spring Framework(SpringBoot)
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and provide mentorship
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Interested in helping enable developers
  • Deep understanding of and extensive experience applying advanced object-oriented design and development principles
  • Experience developing data-driven applications using an industry standard RDBMS (Oracle, Postgres, etc.), including strong data modelling and SQL development skills
  • Hands-on experience in developing RESTful micro-services using Spring Framework(SpringBoot)
  • Experience in CI/CD, RabbitMQ, Git, AWS & other cloud platforms
  • Skilled in core data structures and algorithms and able to implement them
  • Familiar with one of the major Cloud technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure and Google Cloud
  • Experience delivering major updates to production systems and services
  • Contributed to any open-source projects
  • Experience with GraphQL, OpenAPI / Swagger, Splunk
