A. Scope of Position:
Provides routine and emergency respiratory care to both acute and chronic patients, neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescence, adult and geriatric. This care includes routine cardiopulmonary diagnostics, cardiopulmonary emergency resuscitation, airway management, and ventilator support. Provides and promotes wellness and education to the patient, staff and community. Demonstrates a team/multidisciplinary approach to patient care and related services adhering to all regulatory requirements under the direction of a Medical Director. Pprovides appropriate patient care to assess, treat, support and diagnose patients with cardiopulmonary disorders and documentation of this care, in accordance with policy and procedures.

See table of organization. C. Education Experience:
1) Minimum requirements: Graduate of AMA approved program for Respiratory Care. Licensed by the appropriate state. CPR- certified in basic life support. ACLS certification required.
2) Prefer: One year experience, Certified Respiratory Care Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Critical Care and neonatal experience. P.A.L.S. and N.A.L.S. certification. D. Physical Requirements:
This position must be able to perform C.P.R. at any time. This person must be able to push/pull oxygen cylinders and other respiratory care equipment. This position requires frequent walking with the person spending most of their time on their feet. Knowledge of proper body mechanics is essential. This position requires accurate visual acuity to manage equipment and assess patient conditions. Hearing acuity is essential to be able to hear and recognize breath sounds. When necessary, this individual must wear the OSHA approved TB Mask. These requirements are essential to the performance of the basic functions and tasks inherent in this job. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, staff and visitors displaying and maintaining a pleasant attitude. E. Working Conditions:
On a regular basis, will work in the laboratory setting, with a controlled environment. On occasion, may be required to attend educational activities, Health Fairs, or Outreach activities in other areas away from the hospital environment, or to perform diagnostic activities in an alternate setting. This position may require performing duties in all areas of the hospital, including areas that are noisy, any temperature, confined, and in all intensive care areas. Since this position deals with life and death situations, and may require extended periods of concentration and independent functioning, the stress level is expected to be high. This position requires interaction with physicians, nurses and family members in emotionally charged situations. The individual must be able to function both independently and as part of the team. This position will be exposed to infectious diseases and body fluids on a daily basis and should be well educated on the practice of standard precautions.
