The RN - Nursing House Supervisor provides oversight and makes decisions related to patient care that influence hospital and departmental operations on all shifts, week ends and holidays. Articulates issues and problems to department heads with recommendations for solutions. Decisions must encompass knowledge of department and organizational goals and strategies. On night and weekends this position functions as the senior in-house decision-maker for the hospital. Facilitates discussion and problems solving among staff. Appropriate decision-making skills demonstrating competency in the care of patients of all ages.
The Nursing House Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the care of the assigned patients and directs others to assure patient care which is based on patient needs, values, and choices. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously within the scope of professional standards, the rules, and regulations established by the Tennessee Board of Nursing, and knowledge of policies and procedures within Ballad Health. He/she demonstrates skill in developing and guiding collaborative collegial practice that delivers safe competent care based on meticulous application of the nursing process. He/she demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds of patients and caregivers. The position involves maintaining current knowledge of evidence based nursing practice and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process. He/she actively participates in patient care quality and performance improvement through data collections, aggregation and analysis of relevant key indicators of quality (KIQ's). This commitment to quality results in the development and implementation of action plans to include the monitoring of the effectiveness of improvements (Hold the Gains). The RN serves as a professional role model as a caregiver, mentor, teacher and resource for peers and other providers. He/she demonstrates competency in the care of (circle all that apply): Neonate, Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric patient.

Baccalaureate degree preferred. Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in chosen nursing area. Must have minimum five years clinical experience, with experience in nursing supervision preferred. Knowledgeable of the current patient care delivery models, patient acuity and the budget for each area and systems. Familiar with disaster procedures demonstrated by taking a written test on Disaster Manual. Must have demonstrated well-developed leadership skills for direct supervision and mentoring new leaders. Proven communication skills. Demonstrates commitment to quality patient care. Understanding of work group training model . Attend management orientation.
