BCM is looking to recruit a Postdoctoral Associate in the Sreekumar lab. We are a dedicated to scientific research focusing on cancer Biology and Metabolism. Specific area of research for this postdoctoral associate/ fellow post-doctoral trainee to study the molecular alterations associated with prostate and breast cancer health disparities. The candidate should have outstanding communication and writing skills and should be a good team player. Prior experience in the areas of prostate and/or breast cancer biology and bioinformatics is a plus. Candidate should be able to analyze and interpret spatial gene expression data, design logical  in vitro and in vivo follow up experiments, execute them, analyze the data, interpret the data as well as demonstrate competency in trouble shooting. On the technical side, the candidate should be well versed with in cell culture, organoid cultures, shRNA based knockdowns, phenotypic assessment using functional studies, QPCR, immunoblot etc. Experience with in vivo work is a must and should include generation of xenograft tumors, experimental metastasis (tail vein and intra cardiac injection), survival surgery and in vivo drug. administration. Competency, prior experience and publications using in vivo models will be a plus.

Job Duties


  • Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
  • Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals. 
  • Develops mass spectrometry-based methods for metabolic imaging and unbiased metabolomics.
  • Analyzes and interprets high through put datasets.
  • Designs logical follow up experiments, executes them, analyzes the data, interprets the data. as well as demonstrates competency in trouble shooting
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Early stage Postdoctoral Associate.
  • Must have publications in relation to prostate cancer/breast cancer/cancer biology research.
  • Must have done mouse work/In Vivo.
  • Needs to be highly independent and organized. 
  • Team player.
  • Focused and hardworking.
  • Good communication and documentation skills
