Baystate Health seeks a Full Time, Day Shift, Medical Lab Scientist in Transfusion Medicine

Baystate Reference Laboratories (BRL) is Baystate Health's clinical diagnostic laboratory service, providing state-of-the-art, convenient pathology testing and management services to physicians, hospitals, and other health care services throughout the region. Our lab is accredited by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of the American Pathologists (CAP).
Our facilities at Baystate Medical Center include a large open laboratory with modern instrumentation, supporting state-of-the-art techniques in all of our specialties.
We have separate laboratories for transfusion medicine, immunology, molecular pathology, and genetics. Our AABB accredited Blood Bank is equipped with new, fully automated solid phase technology.
Our dedicated team sub-specializes in a wide range of disciplines. We have a breadth and depth of experience rarely seen at other hospital laboratories. And because Baystate Health is a teaching hospital, we have an extensive library of test results, which allows us to reach a diagnosis quickly and accurately.

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will possess and utilize significant technical knowledge and skill regarding principles and techniques of laboratory medicine as well as instrumentation.
Performs a wide variety of assays/procedures within the blood bank with documented expertise.
Specialized training in transfusion medicine will be provided due to the highly complex testing performed.
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Laboratory Science or related field.
MLT or MT (ASCP, NCA, AMT) certification (or equivalent) or eligible.
Education:Associates of Science: Clinical Laboratory Science (Required)
Certifications:Medical Laboratory Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology
