Summary:

The Vice President of Revenue Cycle is responsible for the oversight of all Revenue Cycle services for Baystate Acute Care Hospitals (ACH) and Physician Organization (PO).  The VP provides strategic leadership, direction and collaboration for Baystate Health in alignment with the overall mission of Baystate Health.  The VP develops, implements and oversees standards, systems, policies, procedures, and operational performance.  Additionally, the VP provides key insights and recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer with regards to the Baystate Health Revenue Cycle and provides leadership for the Revenue Cycle, which includes system-wide collaboration, integration, and performance improvement activities with Revenue Cycle and Clinical Operations stakeholders to achieve strategic, financial and operational performance goals.

The specific responsibilities for Vice President of Revenue Cycle includes the following functional areas: Revenue Cycle Operations, Revenue Cycle Systems, Revenue Cycle Reporting & Analytics, Revenue Cycle Improvement, Revenue Cycle Patient Experience and Revenue Cycle Training & Development.  Cerner Revenue Cycle implementation experience is preferred.

Embraces and establishes an organizational culture that values patient satisfaction, clinical satisfaction and associate engagement, and serves as a champion for change and continuous learning that reflects the overall goals of the system.  Provides measurable positive performance across Baystate Health operations in service to hospitals, patient, physicians and associates.

Job Responsibilities:

1) Develop and implement vision and business/operating plans targeted to promote the growth and enhancement of Revenue Cycle services to meet the needs of the system.

2) Oversees the work of all Revenue Cycle personnel.

3) Clearly communicates Revenue Cycle performance expectations to staff in order to achieve Revenue Cycle goals in patient access, health information management and the business office.

4) Works closely with Chief Financial Officer and other leaders to effectively manage day-to-day matters and contribute to long-term strategic initiatives.

5) Provide leadership and subject matter expertise in all areas of the Revenue Cycle.  The VP must have the ability to identify and implement corrective action regarding the system's critical business needs on a real-time basis.

6)Works closely with the clinical leadership and supports the Revenue Cycle processes to support the clinical service goals of the organization.Those goals include but are not limited to: Charge Capture for services performed, Charge Description Master supervision in conjunction with Reimbursement, work with finance function regarding revenue recognition, cash collection, minimizing bad debt and denials, coding compliance for technical, professional and ambulatory services, registration and scheduling, and customer satisfaction.

7) On-going corporate compliance vigilance and monitoring.

8) In an emergency, performs other duties necessary for the welfare of patients or the efficient operations of the system.

9) Ensures team is adequately trained and prepared to meet today's demands as well as the future demands of an evolving healthcare industry being impacted by healthcare reform and other contributing factors.

10) Responsible for the development and management of departmental budget(s).

11) Ensures the development, implementation and compliance of appropriate policies and procedures regarding the Revenue Cycle function across the health system.

12) Assumes responsibility and takes ownership for own work as well as that produced by the Revenue Cycle function.

13) Ensures that work is completed in an appropriate time frame, using resources wisely, and providing follow up until projects and goals are complete/achieved.

14) Ensures active communication with all external and internal constituencies to establish strong relationships that are complimentary and consistent with organizational goals and strategic plans.

15) Partners on current and future needs assessments of systems and software to ensure optimal service outcomes.

16) Oversees the development, review and distribution of reports and procedural statements which ensure regulatory compliance.

17) Keeps abreast of federal regulations, congressional actions and deliberations and state and local activities.

18) Develops and oversees implementation of current and long term Human Resources goals and objectives for organizational development, recruiting, compensation, training and development and employee relations.

19) Works to create a culture of integrity, quality and engagement to meet Health System mission and goals.

20) Develops relationships with outside consultants and industry associations to ensure quality improvement process retains validity and maintains the latest techniques and concepts.Keeps executive leadership and stakeholders well informed.

Required Work Experience:

1) 10 years of progressively responsible managerial experience within a large hospital or integrated healthcare delivery system across the revenue cycle functions.
