The Omaha World-Herald seeks an innovative digital sales leader to serve as the Director of Strategic Accounts.This position leads the overall digital advertising sales efforts for The Omaha World-Herald.
The position has 6 direct reports and is responsible for leading the department's efforts for sales and training of digital products.Additionally, this position oversees the departmental digital support function, ensuring deliverables and performance to our clients.
The position is also responsible for ensuring that strategic account digital revenue plans are being achieved monthly & annually, and creating strategies that will yield positive online/digital/direct advertising solutions for customers. In addition, the Director of Strategic Accounts will work with the Senior Director to lead online/digital/direct media efforts across the entire advertising department ensuring all sales managers exhibit essential digital competencies.This is a key sales transformation objective.
This role has high-revenue responsibility and will help to immediately implement a clear, formal, written strategic plan to attack the major client segment, with a focus on selling solution-based marketing plans that deliver results to clients.
The director spends significant time personally selling, coaching, training, and assessing account executives in the field for the purpose of talent development and deepening account relationships.
The Director of Strategic Accounts must possess strong communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and be able to educate/train internal staff and external customers on how to incorporate solutions-based selling into our organization and culture. The position is an integral member of the Advertising Division responsible for driving major account revenue.
Achieve monthly digital goal for strategic accounts.
Secure contracted digital revenue for the Omaha World-Herald.
Assist in hiring, provide performance feedback, develop and coach staff to achieve performance standards. Work in the field with salespeople to help close sales and improve their skills when necessary.
Work with others in the advertising department to develop creative solutions/packages for customers, and advertisers to grow their business. Make sales calls with high potential customers on a regular basis.
Research, create and conduct digital training for the advertising staff of the Omaha World-Herald
Accurately project revenue forecasts/budgets for major accounts for digital and print sales segments.
Craft effective sales proposals and presentations based on goals and needs of the team and individual clients.
Assess digital training needs of team members, facilitate training, ensure the major account team members are meeting their monthly goals, and coach and motivate team.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of five years in digital media sales and two years in a media management role.
Must have thorough knowledge of digital media and applications.
Problem solving and analytical ability are important as the Director of Strategic Accounts needs to be able to solve problems relating to customers, people or the operation as a whole.
Good communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are used in daily contact with staff and external customers.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have effective presentation skills.
