Generate news content: Write descriptions of high school and college sports events. Compile roundups based on information supplied by the Associated Press and other sources.
Monitor Twitter, ESPN.com and other sources to stay abreast of breaking news
Process incoming emails and calls: Information from coaches or statisticians offering information for publication and assisting customers.
Compile statistics: Create scoring summaries and update standings.
Perform administrative duties: Proofread pages.
Experience in publishing for print or online platforms desired.
High attention to detail and accuracy required for original work and proofreading.
Must be a knowledgeable sports observer.
Able to work nights, weekends and occasionally on holidays.
Able to juggle multiple tasks and still meet deadlines and expectations.
Resourceful: able to find information that needs to be published or to answer customers' questions.
Experience with InCopy and/or InDesign is preferred; training will be provided.
Able to effectively communicate with customers and with information providers via telephone and email.
Able to type, preferably 45 wpm.
Able to provide own transportation (to Greensboro until Design Center is relocated, then Winston-Salem).
Regular and reliable, on-site attendance is required. Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
