Position Summary:

The Local Sales Lead will coach the local sales team to an effective sales process while maintaining their minimal book of

Primary coaching activities include:

  • Weekly 1 - on - 1

  • Weekly role play activities

  • Weekly Forecasting

  • Gap Plan Development

  • Pre-call prep

  • Prospecting for new business with effective lead generation

  • Conduct effective Customer Needs Analysis and review all CNA's

  • Developing and presenting Quick Pitch presentations

  • Closing advertising campaigns

  • Manage accountability of individual initiative achievement (ex:SMB, Loyalty )

  • Balancing the need for transactional selling within the sales process

The best candidate is a standout sales professional who has local media experience (Central VA) and awareness of the
market to serve as a key leader for revenue generation. This role demands strong outreach efforts, great idea and advertising concept generation, and local relationships. This is a hands-on sales and sales lead position that demonstrates an effective sales process themselves
while coaching others. The Local Sales lead needs to be able to both help sales people and hold
them accountable for results. Successful candidates understand who the key decisions makers are in the region, and creates programs and campaigns that grow their investment over time.

In addition, successful candidate in this role can operate in both strategic and tactical settings, are widely read, intellectually curious, and appreciate the evolution that is currently happening with our organization.

The candidate will have a minimal list of business that they maintain of approximately fifteen accounts per month and /
or $20,000 average monthly revenue. Twenty-five percent of the time will be working on their accounts and seventy-five percent of the time working with the local
retail staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead print and digital advertising revenue generation

  • Manage existing base of customers

  • Generate advertising sales revenue within an existing geographic territory

  • Coaching to an effective sales process

Other Duties/Responsibilities

  • Understand our products, competitive position, and role in the marketplace

  • And other duties as assigned by the Ad Director

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Sales process, idea and product generation expert

  • Take time to teach, individualizes their approach

  • Print and digital advertising expert > custom pubs, targeted digital, email, native advertising, reputation management, SEM, website creation and other products as they become available.

  • Proficient in common software platforms: Office, CRM's, etc

  • Strong communication skills: oral and written

  • Able to give appropriate constructive feedback

  • Good problems solver, makes good decisions

  • Outcome driven and focused on key performance metrics that lead to success

  • Great product design; aesthetic sensibility

  • Competitive and keeps sales people challenged

  • Ability to excel in an intelligent and fast paced work environment – we work hard and win

    Plus other duties as assigned by management.
