Perform and execute all work practices
in a safe manner. Constant safety awareness is mandatory for all employees.
Set up press equipment, including
daily maintenance and lubrication procedures outlined in operators' manuals.
Clean ink fountains and make color
changes as needed for the products.
Make necessary web lead changes and
timing of units for various color capabilities.
Prepare paper rolls, and record for
inventory and use records.
Perform general maintenance on press
in addition to trouble-shooting procedures, including replacement of blankets,
ink rollers, and water pickup system, roller settings and adjustments.
Be knowledgeable about and work in platemaking
department daily to prepare printing plates for press.
Constantly monitor press functions
during printing for proper ink and water balance, ink density, color register,
and proper paper feed and tension.
Know the capacities and limitations of
all machines in the department.
Work cooperatively with all
departments to produce a high quality product.
Work well under pressure and have the
ability to meet deadlines.
Rewind roll ends of newsprint.
Burn and punch plates for the press.
Replenishplate room supplies.
Be knowledgeable about chemicals and
how to mix and maintain them for proper use and safety.
Train personnel in plate room
Constantly monitor plate processor for
proper temperature, speed and accurate development and replenishment of

department loading inserts, unloading freight and off-loading preprints.
Perform all other duties requested by
supervisor or production manager.
