Description

The Florence Morning News has an immediate opening for a retail Advertising Account Executive.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develop and sell retail advertising within assigned sales territory, using sales aids
    and market information.

  2. Make regular calls on established and prospective accounts within assigned sales
    territory to determine and evaluate needs and requirements.Develop advertising proposals aimed at
    satisfying those needs.

  3. Maintain a close working relationship with other FMN departments, including Accounting
    and Graphics department.

  4. Gather credit information and fill out credit review form for the Credit Manager, and
    assist in collecting delinquent accounts.

  5. Keep abreast of newspaper and other media advertising trends, developments and
    merchandising techniques.

  6. Process all orders and materials within established deadlines.

  7. Maintain accurate and complete sales records and promptly submit all required reports.

  8. Be aware of co-op opportunities available to assigned advertisers

  9. Be familiar with and know how to use advertising computer software to provide
    information and spec ads for use by advertising customers, including the
    Consumer Preference Study.

  10. Know Advertising Division's procedures and company policies.

  11. Develop and sell new and existing retail advertising accounts.Make calls
    in person and by telephone to prospective and existing accounts to evaluate and
    determine advertiser's needs.

  12. Develop and present proposals to advertisers aimed at satisfying their needs and requirements.

  13. Prepare advertising materials including layout of ad, artwork, keying of information, completing billing,
    typing of copy, communicating with Graphics Department, and follow all required
    paperwork procedures to ensure correct publication of ad.

  14. Know and utilize all sales aids to present advertising strategies.Know and
    participate in all special advertising promotions. Regularly attend department
    training.

  15. Know and correctly apply Advertising Division and company policies and procedures, and local, state and federal laws
    when accepting and proofreading ads for publication.

  16. Resolve, in a timely and professional manner, account conflicts by working with the Credit Department; issue
    appropriate credit with due following division/department policy and procedure.

  17. Develop trust and confidence of advertisers.Develop and maintain professional rapport with assigned accounts.

  18. Responsible for maintaining monthly sales goals and standards.

  19. On-site, regular and reliable attendance is required.
