Facilities Architect/Interior Designer
Perform space and architectural surveys, collect user requirements, interface with government project managers, building maintenance contractors, general contractors, and other personnel, and assist with design reviews of government projects. Gather and define customer's design requirements prior to design contract requests and prepare solutions ranging from conceptual design to final design within established parameters. Create design and construction documents, prepare project specifications, develop record control documents, generate presentation graphics, coordinate design activities with architecture, engineering, safety, security, and construction, manage and monitor architecture and engineering (A&E) firms for multiple projects during the design and construction phases, handle contract close out, manage project design and construction efforts, including schedule, funding, and day-to-day project oversight, and manage and evaluate construction contractor performance. Integrate and coordinate projects with field personnel, evaluate, validate, and manage project change requests, provide official weekly project status reports, and prepare and distribute project communication with customers, management, integrated project teams, and stakeholders. Assist the client's contracting officer (CO) and contracting officer's technical representative (COTR) with acquisition planning, execution, and administration and assist the CO and COTR with conducting pre-bid and pre-construction site visits with the COTR. Prepare and monitor project schedules and budgets, provide technical guidance and assistance on contracting and construction-related issues, direct design efforts, recommend construction documents for approval, and provide oversight of any follow-on maintenance programs. Ensure integration of all systems, including IT, telephone, security, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.
-5+ years of experience with commercial or government facilities' construction projects
-Experience with managing projects
-Ability to handle multiple, demanding, and complex projects in a timely manner with accurate results
-Ability to work nights and weekends for operational necessities, as required
-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
-HS diploma or GED
-BA or BS degree
-Architect License, Engineer in Training (EIT), NCIDQ, or Professional Project Management Certification
