Korean Linguist, Mid
Provide linguistic and cultural expertise and employ independent research and analysis techniques in support of the DoD mission. Leverage knowledge of the language, culture, politics, military, economy, and current events of South Korea to produce high-quality translations, gists, and sight translations of Korean material, provide quality control of others' translations, and guide operational tactics and methodologies in a high tempo environment. Identify and compile relevant information to author accurate, articulate, and time sensitive products on a wide range of topics in support of client requirements. Assist with the development of sound operational tools and strategies. Participate in senior-level briefings and meetings to provide context and subject matter expertise to key decision-makers.
-Experience with performing written Korean to-English translations
-Knowledge of South Korean cultures, politics, military, economy, current events, and psychology
-Knowledge of standard Adobe and Microsoft Office products
-Ability to demonstrate professional-level proficiency in Korean and English and perform at Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Level 3 or above in listening, reading, speaking, and writing in those languages
-Ability to produce client-ready, time sensitive products and reports per client requirements
-Ability to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that may on occasion require working non-standard hours
-TS/SCI clearance required
-HS diploma or GED
-Experience with DoD collection initiatives or programs
-Experience as an HUMINT officer
-Experience with Cyber threat analysis or computer network operations
-Experience with US counterthreat operations and analysis
-Experience with social networking platforms, applications, and trends
-BA or BS degree preferred
