Naval Production Engineer, Lead
Candidate will be expected to apply their knowledge of engineering theories, principles, best practices, methods, analysis and research techniques in the investigation and resolution of complex technical problems associated with surface ship launcher system production. Advise and assist the Government in the planning and conduct of technical reviews and evaluation of production programs, as well as coordinating the efforts of a technical support staff in the performance of all assigned tasks. Review and evaluate a program's progress and make recommendations to correct any identified technical deficiencies or risks impacting cost and schedule considerations.
Candidate will oversee, assist with, participate in or perform the following: analyze and interpret design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications and program/product requirements; the conduct of trade or feasibility studies; Diminishing Manufacturing Sources & Material Shortages (DMSMS) management; identify resolutions to issues on the production lines and in testing; review Engineering Change Notices (ECNs); resolves product modification and non-conformance issues; defines and supports Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS), and Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) efforts; Supplier production qualification assessments and tests (PQTs), as needed; system design, systems integration and test, verification and validation; including the conduct of platform integration efforts, Test and Evaluation (T&E) analysis, resolution of gun/weapon system T&E issues; the conduct of Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEAs) assessments, and the development and implementation of recommended corrective actions; reviews or assessments to ensure products meet Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance (HERO) and Personnel (HERP) and Electrical Explosives Safety requirements; preparations for Weapon System Explosive Safety Review Board (WSESRB) reviews; identify and evaluates technical risks associated with gun or ordance development and system performance; and the coordination and conduct of Failure Review Boards (FRBs) and Root-Cause Corrective Action investigations.
- 15+ years of relevant domain experience U.S. Navy missile launching system designs and production efforts, e.g. Mk 41 VLS, Mk 57 PVLS, and NSM systems.
- Ability to comprehend complex technical problems where capabilities are affected by technical achievability, affordability, and schedule.
- Active Secret clearance
- BS in engineering
- Knowledge and experience in two or more of the following areas as they relate to U.S. Navy surface ship launcher systems: launcher system designs, production engineering and methods, system performance modeling and analysis, Parts Stress and Derating Analysis, Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS), Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Failure Diagnosis and Data/Trend Analysis, weapon system to platform integration, Root-Cause Corrective Action investigations, Engineering Change Notices, experience in resolving production issues with suppliers and sub-tier suppliers, obsolescence management, life-cycle support requirements and analysis, system engineering, parts engineering, reliability engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, hydraulic systems, structural analysis, shock test requirements, production engineering and test, development and/or operational T&E (DT/OT&E) test efforts, Reliability, Maintainability, Availability, and Testability (RAM-T) methods, standards, and techniques
