PART-TIME - 12 hours a week - Superior Location
12 hours shifts - Days

POSITION SUMMARY

Perform all aspects of diagnostic radiological studies, consistently producing the highest quality exams possible. Must be able to perform work independently.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education or Formal Training

Degree from Radiological Technology school as required by ARRT registration.

Special Qualifications (licensure, registration, etc.)

ARRT registered or registry eligible

BLS required by end of conditional period.


Knowledge, Skill and Ability

1. Must have basic understanding of human physiology.

2. Ability to problem solve.

3. Able to adapt exam routines and techniques when necessary to optimize quality of exams.

4. Good interpersonal communication skills.

5. Ability to work closely with radiologists and other physicians.

6. Must have computer and organizational skills.

7. Ability to handle stress.

8. Knowledge of sterile preparation and procedures.

9. Ability to perform venipuncture if applicable.


Experience

If student tech must be within four months of completion of Radiological Technology degree.


MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED

1. Diagnostic Radiology Equipment (fluoro, portable C-Arm, TOMO, etc.)

2. Mechanical Devices (carts, beds etc.)

3. Processors

4. Computer and telephone systems

5. Meditech

6. PACS


WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

1. Occupationally exposed to radiation.

2. Exposure to contagious disease and body fluids.

3. Stressful environment and fast pace.

4. Walking and standing required 75% of the time.

5. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch, and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat, and sit.

6. The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support,

push, pull and or/lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for

example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).

7. Functional physical demand include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be

needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell, and touch.


INTERRELATIONSHIPS

Extensive: Technical personnel, patients, radiologists, other physicians

Moderate: Director, other managers, support staff

Must maintain working relationships with radiologists, ER physicians and staff, as well as, all referring physicians


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides quality patient care.

2. Performs exams using good judgment in scanning, radiographing, and documenting anatomy/pathology.

3. Assists the radiologist and other physicians with interpretation of exams.

4. Assists the radiologists and other physicians with invasive procedures.

5. Transports patients to and from department or other areas within the hospital.

6. Performs injections of contrast material (oral, rectal, and IV) if applicable.

7. Monitors and cleans equipment, and reports equipment problems to the Supervisor or Imaging Director.

8. Works toward goal of quality improvement.

9. Schedules patients.

10. Assists in the training of new technologists and students.

11. Coordinates clinical information and previous testing to determine if additional views need to be obtained.

12. Uses computer information system as required.

13. Employees are expected to comply with all regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission Standards.

14. Is familiar with organization, department and job specific Environment of Care areas, including Life Safety,

Utilities Management, Hazardous Materials Communications, Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control and

Medical Equipment Failure.

15. Adheres to Standard Precautions as appropriate, which may include:

a. the use of protective barriers, as appropriate (e.g., gloves, masks, gowns, pocket masks, and/or safety

glasses);

b. handling and disposing of infectious waste appropriately; and

c. hand washing as appropriate.


OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assists in the evaluation of new products and equipment

2. Provide for proper charging and credit as to services performed

3. Keep Department clean.

4. Performs other duties as required
