Clinical Dietitian - Outpatient
Responsible for providing sound nutrition care for a variety of patients including geriatric, adult, and adolescents. In providing sound nutrition care, the Dietitian serves as a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team and assesses nutrition needs; develops and implements nutrition care plans; evaluates and reports the results appropriately; interprets, evaluates and utilizes pertinent and current research related to nutrition care; and coordinates activities according to department policies and procedures and the goals for the healthcare team. The Dietitian is accountable for setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and promoting the achievement of patient outcomes. In addition to working with the healthcare team, the Dietitian will interact with families. Assists with completion of individualized forms and review with patient. Collaboratively discuss with patient/family readiness to learn, education plan, behavioral goals and diabetes self-management support. Submit proper documentation for billing. Send letter to the referring physician regarding educational plan, goals, and diabetes self-management support. Evaluate patient progress frequently during the educational process and provide feedback. Provide assistance and make appropriate referrals.
Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Nutrition and/or Dietetics is required. In addition, must have documented completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Accredited Internship Program, AP4 Program or approved work experience program prior to employment.
Registration from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics shall be achieved within one year of employment and maintained.
Mental & Visual Fatigue: Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time.
Physical Effort: The job produces some physical demands. Typical of jobs that include regular walking standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light weight objects.
