Digital Software Developer

Computing and Information Services

The Digital Software Developer serves in all phases of system and subsystem research, development, prototyping, integration, deployment, and releases of advanced digital technologies and platforms. The position is responsible for helping to plan, design, code, test, deploy, document, and maintain digital prototypes and technology applications based on industry best practices and user experience best practices. This position involves significant research, analysis, and implementation which includes performing end-to-end development and integration of advanced digital applications and platforms. In this role, the Digital Software Developer must facilitate productive relationships with a diverse constituency. The Digital Software Developer will work closely on cross-functional collaborative development efforts, to promote standardization and efficiencies to maintain secure and reliable applications in an agile development environment of continuous integration and improvement.



  • Bachelor degree preferred


  • 2 years of related technical experience

  • Application development experience with Angular frameworks preferred.

  • Understanding of or interest in object-oriented programming practices.

  • Experience with the migration from monolithic application development to micro-services preferred.

  • Experience with Agile development incorporating continuous integration and continuous delivery, utilizing technologies such as Git, Maven, Jenkins preferred.

  • Experience with application development frameworks and version control tools such as React, Vue preferred.

  • Experience with or interest in OS virtualization and containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.

  • Experience with languages, such as Java, Javascript, ES6, Node JS preferred.

  • Experience with or interest in RESTful APIs utilizing structured data formats such as JSON and JavaScript frameworks such as Node, Vue, React and/or Angular.

  • Experience or interest in architecting and building highly interactive user interfaces and RESTful APIs.

  • Ability to lead and test effective digital concepts, determine structure, behavior, and third-party APIs preferred.

  • Understanding of and experience with design constraints, editors, browser platforms, and their differences preferred.

  • Working knowledge of various database management systems such as SQL (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases preferred.

  • Working knowledge of non-traditional database systems, such as ElasticSearch, Redis preferred.

  • Demonstrates the ability and willingness to understand non-technical users' requirements and to generate user-friendly solutions within the context of division goals.

  • Experience debugging client-side performance issues preferred.

  • Technical SEO experience preferred.

  • Understanding of or interest in UI design and UX principles.

  • Demonstrates the ability and willingness to define and drive front end technology strategy.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal required.

  • Demonstrates a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.

Successful completion of a criminal background check and education verification required.
