Description

Job Description:

BWell supports the development of skills for lifelong, holistic health and wellbeing for all Brown students by offering interventions that are both community- and evidence-informed, and rooted in social justice to empower growth and the ability to thrive, prevent health disparities, and respond to emergent needs.

The Health Promotion Specialist: Relationship Empowerment and Interpersonal Violence Prevention Coordinator will substantially contribute to BWell's work to create a campus environment that fosters a safe, supportive and inclusive learning and living environment, empowering students' growth and ability to thrive. This will be achieved through theory-driven and evidence-informed educational interventions which identify the interplay of power, privilege and oppression and seek to address the roots of interpersonal violence and increase positive relationships for students. A central focus of the work of the Health Promotion Specialist will be to advise, evaluate and co-coordinate two of BWell's five peer education programs: SAPE (Sexual Assault Peer Education) and MPE (Masculinity Peer Education), including recruitment, training, and management of student volunteers and paid student coordinators. The Health Promotion Specialist will work with a diverse and multidisciplinary team of colleagues in developing, implementing and evaluating these programs and will collaborate across many departments throughout the University. They will actively promote diversity and social justice through critical and compassionate communication and strategic outreach efforts to various student populations (e.g., first-generation, undocumented and DACA students, LGBTQ students).
