Job Description:
The Human Resources Specialist has a comprehensive understanding of all Human Resources-related processes and serves as an advisor to the Human Resource Director on a variety of Human Resource functions including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, policy and procedure administration, equity reviews, job audits, and salary recommendations. The Human Resource Specialist consults in conjunction with the Director, Human Resources on all employment related functions, and serves as a point of contact within the School of Public Health Human Resources resolving day-to-day issues and triaging employee and labor relations issues to the Director as needed. The Human Resource Specialist provides information on Brown University Human Resources protocols to supervisors and managers, provides Human Resource policy guidance and interpretation, and is a key point of contact for employment inquiries. Serves as the Workday liaison for the Department, providing guidance to hiring managers for all Workday processes, and provides and/or coordinates initial and refresher training to staff.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business orr a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and professional experience. 1-3 years of human resources experience,

Demonstrated proficiency with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Google docs/forms
The ability to function effectively and in a busy setting and manage a large volume of data
The ability to maintain confidentiality and show discretion when dealing with information of a sensitive nature
Accurate and detail-oriented
Excellent organization and prioritization skills
Excellent customer service skills; effective oral and written communication skills
Experience with a HRIS database; prior experience with the Workday system is a plus
Highly effective oral and written communication skills
Able to communicate with all levels of employees
Stays current, continually updates skills
High degree of communication, leadership, conflict resolution and training skills.
Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, and work independently
