We are seeking a PostdoctoralFellow who seeks to impact change by improving patient's lives by gaining acceptanceinto the National Institute of Health (NIH) funded T32 training program for federally-funded basic, translational, and clinicalresearch fellowships in respiratory biology and diseases at our world-renownedLung Institute.

You will be allowed tochoose a mentor(s) within the Lung Institute to conduct your research and a careerdevelopment committee will be formed to help you meet your ultimate careergoals. Your research will be augmented with various scientificmeetings/presentations such as research-in-progress, journal clubs, andresearch symposiums.

Our Pulmonary Researchcomprises a group of world-class researchers and up-and-coming investigatorswhose combined interests span multiple disciplines. Our unified goal is tounderstand the underlying mechanisms that cause various lung diseases andultimately translate those findings to improving patient health. In particular;our group has expertise in both basic and translational research oninterstitial lung diseases, such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, acute lunginjury, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), Chronic ObstructivePulmonary Disease (COPD), lung transplantation and bronchiolitis obliteranssyndrome (BOS), and lung infection, among others.

You will workindependently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the PrincipalInvestigator and other Research Scientists, to perform routine and complexlaboratory procedures throughout your training period. You may develop,adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols, analyze andinterpret data and may assist in preparation of grant proposals. You will participatein publications and presentations as an author or co-author. You will notresponsible for generating grant funds.

Your essential jobduties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Assist in preparation ofgrant proposals
  • Participate inpublications and presentations as author or co-author.
  • Design and performexperiments while keeping appropriate experimental records and documentation aswell as analyze the results with the Principal Investigator.
  • Develop, adapt, andimplement new research techniques and protocols.
  • Analyze, interpret,summarize and compile data.
  • Perform routine andcomplex laboratory procedures throughout your training period.
  • Operate and maintainequipment and instruments.

Educational Requirements:
Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in area directly related to field of research specialization.
License/Certificate Requirements:
Works independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within area of specialization. Acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to five (1-5) year post-doctoral appointment. Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment. Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment.
