You will provide support and service to faculty and staff conducting research. This includes coordination of staff support, provision of centralized systems, regulatory expertise, and quality assurance. Your work will support our mission of rapidly translating research discoveries into safe, effective treatment.
The PulmonaryResearch team at the Cedars-Sinai Lung Institute comprises a group ofworld-class researchers whose combined interests span multiple disciplines. Theunified goal is to understand the underlying mechanisms that cause various lungdiseases and ultimately translate those findings to improving patient health.
The researchersat Cedars-Sinai are conducting basic, clinical and translational research in anumber of pulmonary diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, acuterespiratory distress syndrome, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),pulmonary hypertension, lung transplantation and lung infection, among others.Scientific programs within the Lung Institute have a bench-to-bedside approachthat spans the entire research spectrum to unravel basic mechanisms of disease,develop new diagnostic modalities, and test novel therapies.
The LungInstitute includes several top researchers with vibrant research programs thathave contributed multiple high-impact publications in the fields of lunginjury, fibrosis, infection, regeneration and immunology. The basic researchfindings are leading to new therapies for diseases such as idiopathic pulmonaryfibrosis, asthma, and COPD, in addition to identifying methods for controllinglung inflammation after infections and developing regenerative medicine toolsto repair damaged lungs.
Under generalguidance, the RGS III works with the Department Manager and/or PrincipalInvestigator (PI), in the oversight and submission of all pre- and post- awardgrant administration processes of unit (division/department/center/institute).
Serves as liaison between departments, research groups, Office of ResearchAdministration (ORA), and accounting and finance departments.
Performs pre- andpost- award administrative functions, including reviewing technical sections ofproposals to ensure requirements are met, and preparing and/or reviewingbudgets to ensure completeness and accuracy using knowledge of grant budgets,expenditure restrictions, and grant accounts. Monitors expenses, performsreconciliations and research related financial reporting of federal andnon-federal grants and ensure compliance with all federal, state and localagencies including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department ofDefense (DOD), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Institutional ReviewBoard.
Prepares and routes internaldocuments for signature and processing, works with PI's and SRFA staff tosubmit all deliverables in a timely manner including: FFR's, No CostExtensions, Carry Forward of Funds, executing subcontracts, etc.
Independentlyperforms all pre-award and post-award monthly financial projections, accountreconciliations, cost transfers, progress reports, budget changes, salaryallocation reviews, time and effort management reporting, purchase orderreconciliation, and monitoring milestones for multiple project, infrastructure,and multi-center grants.
Performsfinancial analysis and forecasting to identify relevant factor variances,formulate logical conclusions and devise alternate solutions as necessary.
Reviews grantapplications and post award management activities, develop logical solutions todifficult, unusual, or first-time problems, and provides solutions for actionto leadership.
Manages alldeliverables including invoices and subcontract paperwork, complex financialreporting processes and fiscal responsibility for salary, supply costs,subcontracts.
Mentors andtrains grant management staff.

Managesadministrative and financial aspects of pulmonary Program Project Grants (P01)
Creates,negotiates, and implements clinical trial budgets, industry-sponsored clinicalresearch billing and reconciliation,
Seven to tenyears of progressively increasing pre- and post- award research grantexperience or equivalent of education and experience.
Possess aworking knowledge of Federal and State Pass-Thru agency requirements and costprinciples circulars.
Demonstratedproficiency in maintaining complex financial reporting processes and fiscalresponsibility for salary, supply costs, and subcontracts.
Independentlyreview grant application and post-award management activities, develop logicalsolutions to difficult problems and provide solutions for action to leadership.
