Responsibilities

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

. Assist the physician for the division at all times as needed

Work office hours with designated physician when a nurse is out during clinic.

Triage the patient after the medical assistant has taken necessary vitals, notations in the

Electronic Medical Record system of all medical history required for the physician care

Obtain any missing reports or CDs from current patient testing if not already in the

Electronic medical record chart

  • Coordinating surgical planning (Cardiac clearance, Preadmission testing appointments)
  • Work all task assigned in the Electronic Medical Record system to the divisional Nurse team


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist physician Monday through Friday 8 hours a day.
  • Work with patients to arrange for a surgery date according to medical needs.
  • Answer all calls received in the nurses office from patients, families, pharmacies and other facilities as well as physicians
  • Meet with scheduled Neurosurgery patients on Wednesday mornings before surgery.
  • Work with the divisional medical assistant on any issues that arise
  • Work with the administrative assistants for the division on any issues
  • Assist patient on any needs that the physician is not available to answer
  • Review any reports that come into the division from patients or facilities


Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate, Baccalaureate, or Associate nursing degree or program certificate

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:

Current PA licensure within the guidelines of the State Board of Nurse Examiners. A minimum if five years experience in Neurosurgical Nursing. Current certification in Basic Life Support. Critical care experience preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work several computer systems on a daily basis
