What we need

Covance is currently seeking an experienced Senior Business Development Director to join our Clinical team in Europe, this represents an incredibly exciting opportunity for the right person to join a very successful European team.

 

You will be tasked with generating a broad opportunity pipeline by initiating conversations and nurturing relationships with clients, providing clinical trial solutions that bring together Covance's full portfolio of drug development services. Delivering personalized attention, deep therapeutic expertise and extensive experience working with pharma and biotechs in this region. Your gained knowledge of the Covance suite of services (clinical development services, regulatory, central labs, clinical pharmacology, market access strategies and more), will be required to meet the growing complexity of our clients' needs.

Education/Qualifications:

This position is home based and successful applicants will ideally be based in Europe and must have fluent English and German. We are seeking an experienced an Business Development Director, with a background in a CRO sales experience, although we would consider candidates from other scientific backgrounds who have strong account management skills and experience of clinical trials.

 

  • Bachelors degree in life science or business field preferred

 

Experience:

 

In addition, the ideal candidate should be able to offer:

 

  • Good understanding of the drug development continuum
  • Strong team player: ability to work very closely with colleagues, share leads and form highly effective collaborations
  • Significant (at least 4 years) commercial expertise, ideally in a CRO or other Life Sciences environment
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, ability to form strong and effective relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to adapt your style and approach to different audiences internally and externally
  • Experience of presenting to executives and/or senior levels within a client organization
  • Able to work autonomously and effectively, managing your own priorities in conjunction with those of your colleagues and your clients
  • Proven ability to identify, develop and implement creative and innovative strategies that lead to effective long term client relationships
  • Experience of developing accounts by effective networking and prospecting, building a sales pipeline, delivering creative proposals and delivering opportunities
  • Willingness to travel, depending on COVID this would ideally be around 50% of the role will include visiting clients in Europe with some travel to the US for meetings
