DEA's Portland, OR office Water and Environment Business Unit (WEBU) is currently seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Group Leader whose primary focus will be growth of our water/wastewater team in the Northwest with emphasis on sales and project delivery of water and/or wastewater services for existing and new clients.

This position will require the candidate to utilize their expertise in leading and growing a group through water and/or wastewater engineering related projects, including, but not limited to:

  • Wastewater collection system planning and design

  • Water distribution system planning and design

  • Pump station and lift station analysis and design

  • Hydraulic modeling of water and/or wastewater systems

  • Pipe rehab and replacement design

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Water and/or Wastewater Engineer and Project Manager with a proven record of developing client relationships, leading competitive solicitations, and delivering or managing projects for clients in Oregon and Washington. This leadership position could also eventually expand in scope to include strategic growth in the water/wastewater market across other DEA geographies (California, Arizona, Utah, Idaho and Colorado, etc.).

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Senior Leader and Group Manager - helping build and grow the Oregon Region (ORR) and Puget Sound Region (PSR) Water/Wastewater practice, while managing, coaching, and mentoring staff in professional, technical, and business development efforts
  • Work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment with individual and group responsibilities for business development, sales, financial performance and internal and external client deliverables and schedules
  • Serve as Project Manager with responsibility for all aspects of project development and delivery, including scoping, budgeting, contract negotiations, and project execution (including preparation of engineering plans, specifications and cost estimates (PS&E), etc.).
  • Work with other senior Water and Environment Business Unit (WEBU) Leaders, Marketing, and Business Development Leaders to initiate, identify and support project pursuits and assist in project execution
  • Serve as a project pursuit champion, when applicable
  • Assist in preparing proposals and participating in interviews
  • Work with the other senior WEBU Leaders on strategic planning activities
  • Work with the other senior WEBU Leaders to identify capital investments, strategic alliances, key hires, acquisitions and growth opportunities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading and growing teams and designing and managing water and/or wastewater projects
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Oregon (Washington and California a plus)

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering
  • Track record of winning and executing water/wastewater projects for public and private clients
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Local knowledge, contacts, projects and client relationships

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience leading and growing teams and designing water infrastructure projects
  • Washington and California Professional Engineering License
  • Expertise in water and/or wastewater master planning and feasibility studies
