Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Houston, TX.



Work You'll Do

Help companies understand national, state and local, and international tax structures and align the tax function with business objectives. Work with local office Deloitte Tax professionals to assist clients with fundamental tax planning and analysis. Provide an integrated approach to process improvement that can help the tax department maximize its strategic value to the organization. Work to understand company-specific business and tax issues and work with the company to optimize its tax position to identify and mitigate risk areas. Work on day-to-day projects through the delivery of tax consulting services to clients. Advise clients on the business impact of implementing an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Solve complex tax issues as they arise. Present research findings to senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Eighteen months of experience performing fuel excise tax return preparation and review.
  • Experience must include eighteen months of:
    • Reviewing business process, work papers, and tax returns to gather tax requirements, and reviewing functional specification documents to identify tax impact;
    • Designing business processes using industry standard tools;
    • Drafting test scenarios related to indirect tax for testing, and resolving any defects;
    • Gathering and documenting indirect tax requirements for business and performing system fit and gap analysis, and impact analysis;
    • Implementing tax solutions, including requirements analysis, design of solution configuration of system and testing go-live, and developing solutions for implementing transaction tax tools;
    • Preparing monthly motor fuels tax returns and supporting documents for multiple state and federal jurisdictions focused on Gasoline, Diesel and Biodiesel products;
    • Preparing and reviewing Terminal Operator reports and motor fuels returns using TZI, PDI, Avalara Returns Excise, and Right Angle; and
    • Developing and testing logic in tax preparation software in order to expedite and improve the return preparation process for high volume/high liability tax returns.

    Salary: $72,000.00 - $113,000.00/year;
