This position will provide the twelve Practice Domains of Athletic Training to five NJCAA Division II and III intercollegiate male and female sports. Oversee the day to day operations of the Athletic Training Department. Responsible for providing and implementing strength and conditioning to all student-athletes as well as provide rehabilitation and strength and conditioning programming for the Police Academy of Delta College. Assist Athletic Director in Appreciative Advisement of Student-Athletes.


  • Provide Appreciative Advising and success coaching for student-athletes. Utilize Student Self-Service, CRM Advise and student data to confirm and track accurate enrollment, persistence and graduation information for student-athletes.
  • Oversees student athlete study tables and notice of participation in athletic letters to faculty. 
  • Maintain appropriate communications with student athletes, student athletic trainers, parents, coaches, physicians, local emergency room administrators, and insurance companies.
  • Work flexible hours often exceeding 40 hours per week during the academic / sports year, and includes many weekends (including Sundays), nights, and holidays. 
  • Treat injuries incurred by an athlete, coach, recruit for the police academy or employee of Delta College. Coordinate any rehabilitation needed by any Delta College athlete and/or recruit of the police academy.  
  • Provide direct supervision and evaluation of Delta's student athletic trainers and Resident Physicians during their clinical education experience.
  • Design and implement Strength & Conditioning programs for assigned sports during preseason, in-season and off-season periods, in conjunction with the designated coach from each sport and Director of the Police Academy. 
  • Develop testing programs to determine effectiveness of the program.  
  • Advises and counsels the Coordinator of the Police Academy on proper nutrition and exercise.
  • Provide assistance with event planning and preparation for fundraising events.
  • Assist other departments on campus with enrollment/retention outreach efforts.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge and skills
  • National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification
  • American Red Cross CPR / First Aid / Sports Safety / AED
  • Strength & Conditioning Certification (CSCS) or Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES)
  • 1-3 years of position related experience
