General Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President of Graduate Enrollment Management Services (GEMS), the Assistant VP of Corporate and Employer Outreach will define, develop, and oversee the execution of the centralized and streamlined external go-to-market strategy to engage Fortune 1000 employers to form Educational Partnerships for DePaul University's overall portfolio of adult undergraduate and graduate programmatic offerings.

The AVP will lead the effort to raise market awareness of these corporate and employer Educational Partnerships. S/he will oversee and guide the employer needs analysis with C-, VP level HR/Training and Development corporate officers and present proposals that meet employer needs. In conjunction with the AVP, s/he will discuss and negotiate potential broad-based corporate tuition discounts. All of these activities will contribute to achieving university enrollment and revenue targets.

The AVP will also work with key internal university departments such as Institutional Research and Market Analytics (IRMA) to understand the external market landscape and identify opportunities and strategies to create new markets, formats and degrees in order to market and drive volume (group) enrollments through employer sponsorship of students.

The AVP will also consult with and influence administrative leadership and faculty in the DePaul colleges to adapt existing or create new courses based on employers' educational partnership needs, the overall corporate and employer outreach market strategy, and DePaul's portfolio of adult undergraduate and graduate programmatic offerings.


Responsibilities & Duties
  • Develop and lead the execution of DePaul's overall corporate and employer marketing strategy for adult undergraduate and graduate portfolio programmatic offerings.

  • Working in conjunction with internal stakeholders for decision and data support (IRMA, Marketing Communication, Marketing Strategy, et al), contribute to the achievement of university short and long-term enrollment and revenue targets.

  • Lead corporate client needs analysis, conduct necessary financial modeling, and oversee negotiation of corporate tuition discount rates with each client.

  • Responsible for the team's successful execution of the corporate outreach marketing strategy and tactics.

  • Monitor the changing landscapes of the four-year higher education institutional market and adjust market strategy accordingly.

  • Influence and negotiate with DePaul college academic leadership and faculty to adapt existing or create new course offerings based on external educational partnership employer needs and the overall market strategy.

  • Supervise the staff of 6, including four Corporate and Employer Business Development Managers.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Minimum of ten years professional experience, in business development, marketing or corporate relations.

  • Demonstrated experience in new market development, strategic market development, market analysis, external senior client relationship management, project management, and team leadership.


Preferred Requirements
  • Master's degree.

  • Minimum of three to five years of professional experience in higher education and/or corporate training and development.


Financial Responsibilities
  • The AVP will be responsible for achieving enrollment targets, which are strategic due the Corporate and Employer Outreach being an example of a new program priority in the 2018 University Strategic Plan.

  • Revenue targets from CEO activity currently exceed $6M.


Certifications & Licenses
  • Must have valid driver's license.

  • Excellent business development, senior stakeholder relationship management, communication, and project management skills.

  • Understanding of the external higher education marketplace and environment along with knowledge of adult undergraduate and graduate education structures and practices, including recruitment and admission.

  • Experience with program planning and project management in a university context.

Additional Information
  • The position is based in the DePaul University Loop campus but also involves travel to corporations and employers throughout the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
