General Summary

Under direction, the Operations Engineer - Intermediate will implement, support, tune, monitor, and document enterprise-wide end user computing environments. This position will maintain operational knowledge of supported technologies and actively contribute to team goals.


Responsibilities & Duties
  • Implement, configure, upgrade, patch, troubleshoot and resolve problems with supported services.

  • Perform moderate to complex system administration tasks across supported technology areas. Additional responsibilities include monitoring and tuning system performance, maintaining service documentation and performing security patching.

  • Assist senior level staff members with advanced maintenance and troubleshooting activities.

  • Support and participate in new projects as assigned.

  • Seek continuous service improvement.

  • Provide Tier III end user support, provide documentation for service team, end user, and Tier I and Tier II support.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology field, with 3 years of application/system administration experience or equivalent.

  • Requires current experience working with some, but not all of the following technologies: Active directory, Exchange, SCCM, or desktop virtual environments.

  • Requires a solid background supporting Active directory, Windows server operating systems, Windows and Macintosh desktop operating systems, scripting, and automation.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform system administration functions proficiently for assigned technologies.


Preferred Requirements
  • Microsoft certification. (MCSA/MCSE)

Other Skills & Abilities Reqd
  • Must be able to grasp quickly and troubleshoot moderate to complex technical problems spanning a variety of technical disciplines. Some ingenuity and flexibility is expected.

  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to explain moderate to complex technical problems or functions in a non-technical fashion.

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers, co-workers, peers, and vendors.

  • Effectively work individually and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrate strong morale and spirit while focusing on the success of the team.

  • Use creativity, positivity, and unique personal attributes to contribute to a climate which motivates people to do their best work.

Additional Information
  • Required to be on call 24/7 on a rotating schedule.

  • Occasionally requires off hours work, including nights and weekends.

  • May be called in as the subject matter expert on non-scheduled basis.
