Eating Recovery Center/ Insight Behavioral Health is a national behavioral health hospital caring for patients and families dealing with eating disorders and other mood and anxiety disorders. We are seeking a Behavioral Health Counselor. We offer a flexible career path with comprehensive training and professional development opportunities.

We are looking for a Behavioral Health Counselor who will provide constant and comprehensive patient supervision and support, facilitate psycho-educational groups and contribute to overall implementation of therapeutic programming including experiential therapy, meal-time and bathroom support. The Behavioral Health Counselor will ensure a safe and therapeutic environment and plays a key role in the recovery of patients with eating and mood disorders.To better understand our mission, watch the video below:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform vital, front line functions in all aspects of medical and behavioral health care
  • Responsible for observing, reporting and treating patients in a therapeutic setting
  • Play a key role in providing behavioral treatment interventions under the direction of the registered nurse and medical team
  • Assist patients with emotional regulation and behavioral de-escalation
  • Ongoing assessment and monitoring of physical/mental status
  • Ensuring patient safety
  • Perform checks on the unit to ensure environmental safety and patient location
  • Facilitate and support meals with patients consistent with Policy and Procedure
  • Maintain daily program structure
  • Assist in the AM/PM routine
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups within realm of individual training and expertise
  • Contribute clinical information and observations about patients as part of therapeutic interventions and document such in the electronic health record
  • Accompany patients on fresh air breaks and planned outings
  • Be creative in therapeutic interventions in order to maintain a safe, supportive, clinically sound milieu
  • Provide 1:1 outreach to patient if necessary

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Graduate/GED required
  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Experience working with people with mental disorders preferred.
  • Experience in health care preferred

 

Required License or Certification:

  • Drivers license is required with safe driving record
  • BLS (can be achieved upon hire)
