Emerson AC Variable Speed R&D is looking for an Electrical Engineering Co-op for the Fall 2020 school semester to work at our Saint Louis office. We are accepting applications from candidates who can commit 30-40 hours per week and who are starting a career in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Electronic Engineering Technology.
AS A CO-OP HUMAN RESOURCES YOU WILL:
- Perform electrical testing & data collection.
- Conduct functional analysis of both prototype and assembly circuitry.
- Debug both assemblies and specific circuits that do not match design criteria.
- Find correlation between simulated/calculated data and test data.
- Curve fitting this data by constructing a curve, or mathematical function, that has the best fit to a series of data points.
- Develop methods to optimize the time required to analyze this data.
- Assist with higher-fidelity characterization tasks involved with our zero-speed sensorless algorithms.
- Assist with other general engineering tasks as directed by supervisor.

- Enrollment in an ABET accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Electronic Engineering Technology.
- Completion of at least three semesters of course work.
- Excellent analytical skill and critical thinking
- Excellent verbal, written communication.
- 3.0 GPA or greater preferred.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Experience utilizing Matlab for data analysis
- Completion of at least one Electrical Engineering lab class is preferred.
- Familiarization with operation of digital oscilloscopes, function generators, low voltage dc supplies, and digital volt meters is preferred.
- Experience using Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
