Summary of role

This role is within the Emerson Automation Solutions European IT Applications organisation, and is responsible for providing application support to business users and IT project teams across the Europe World Area (including MEA world area on occasion). The role is instrumental in the support, development, and sustaining of legacy ERP systems, including JD Edwards/Oracle together with the development and roll outs of current and future business applications including Oracle, Emerson's Chosen global ERP system. The IT Application Analyst will be analyzing and understanding business and application requirements, across multiple functional areas including Sales Order Processing, Distribution, Finance, and Manufacturing and recommending appropriate and effective solutions.

 

In this Role You Will:

Implementation and Enhancement

  • Work on selected projects and programs, leading meetings with business to discuss and understand their system and/or data requirements and make recommendations on what actions should be taken.

  • Work closely with the business to ensure the software functionality is applied to its full potential, and managing user and business requests for further improvement.

  • Responsible for recommending and delivering solutions within a controlled IT development organisational change process to ensure all system wide implications are considered, and the integrity and security of the business systems are maintained.

  • Project support activity including supporting User testing and training.

  • Producing supporting documentation.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

 

System Development

  • Translate user requirements of approved change requests into functional specifications for developers.

  • Provide details of system bugs to developers.

  • Participate in the unit testing of program changes for enhancements and bugfixes before release to users for user testing, and liaise with users and report back errors.

  • Ensure all program changes follow the strict change control procedure to protect the security and integrity of the production applications

  • Maintain and Develop the European JDE Project and Change Control tools, such as Sharepoint, and Aldon Community Manager (including user documentation, departmental procedures and work instructions) and continually look for improvements to existing processes and procedures internally and elsewhere in the business.

 

Support

  • Respond to requests and solve issues raised through the IT service desk, and ensure they are effectively handled and resolved.

  • Participate in regular scheduled maintenance and support activities around financial period end and year ends.

  • Work with the IT Service Desk to ensure compliance with existing procedures, deliver training and advice where necessary and enhance their documentation

 

 

For this role you will need:

  • Higher qualification / Degree. Engineering, Computer Science or Business would be an advantage.

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience working with ERP applications, JDE, Oracle and knowledge of Sharepoint would be a distinct advantage.

  • Good understanding of IT Development Lifecycle and change control would be an advantage

  • Good working knowledge of Business processes – Any of the following – Finance, Order Management and/or Manufacturing.

  • Experience or an understanding of Business Analysis and AGILE Project Management would be an advantage.

  • Sound ability to write and/ or revise documentation

  • Proven track record of consistently seeing tasks through to completion while maintaining productivity under pressure

  • Able to work simultaneously on several projects/tasks at once whilst delivering against tight deadlines

  • Able to operate independently and in a team, and establish effective working relationships

  • Fluent in oral and written English – other European languages would be an advantage
