  • Job Summary: Responsible for the flow of patients, family members, visitors, and vendors. Completes the registration process for all inpatients, outpatients, emergency patients, and reoccurring patients. Collects accurate and thorough patient demographic and insurance information, verifies insurance eligibility, collects the amount owed by the patient prior to or at the time of service, explains hospital literature and captures all required signatures, and direct patients to appropriate departments. Scans required documents. Arranges for a Financial Counselor to speak with the patient if needed.

    Greets all patients, family members, visitors, and vendors promptly and courteously. Answers questions and directs individuals to the appropriate areas. Arranges for an Escort or wheelchair for those whom need it. Answers all incoming telephone calls promptly and courteously; routing the call to the appropriate department/employee when necessary. Must be willing and able to work in a rapidly changing environment. Requires calm rational thinking to meet the customer demands and facility's deadlines. Exposure to numerous personality types requires sensitivity and conflict resolution skills. Team environment requires total participation by all team members at all times. Demonstrates flexibility, dedication to team involvement, and have solid communication skills.

    Job Requirements:

    This position requires a high school diploma at minimum. Two years prior experience in a healthcare environment and computer experience with an emphasis on customer service preferred. Understanding of the revenue cycle including insurance payers, billing, and collections preferred.

    Preference will be given to applicants with strong typing and data entry experience.
