PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Lead cross-functional efforts to ensure ‘the right products are built', working within Fresenius and externally to deliver technology-enabled solutions to the market. Manage the full product lifecycle: define the product/service vision; gain an understanding of unmet needs to identify opportunities; work with stakeholders to assess and prioritize initiatives and product investments; establish a product Roadmap; and ensure that revenue, profit and customer satisfaction goals are met. Act as a general manager to ensure that the product/service supports the company's overall strategy and goals.

PATIENT DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY FOCUS:

  • This is a key role defining and creating technology enablement of the patient digital experience.  
  • You will be responsible for transforming the patient digital experience through technology products that provide information, education and assistance; empower patients in their health journey; allow patients to manage their care and collaborate with their care team as needed; and remove frustrations and time burden so they can focus on being at their best health.  
  • Maintain a holistic end-to-end purview of Patient journeys across the care continuum. Serve as an SME to inform other areas / initiatives which will impact patient experience.
  • Success in this role requires
    • obtaining a deep understanding of our patients' real world workflows, challenges, and barriers through shadowing them in clinic, home, and other potential settings;
    • interviewing patients, caregivers, care team, and others to understand the full context of the patients' care and interactions thereto;
    • recognizing that our patients are consumers who use various digital technology and tools in their everyday lives. Hence this role will heavily leverage consumer-facing technology capabilities and common uses in the market to normalize patients' digital experience within Fresenius;
    • creative and innovative thinking to bring effective solutions that unburden users while reenforcing clinical and business processes.
  • Success means that patients have a digital experience that improves their quality of life every day, setting the standard by which others in the health care industry are judged.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Define the vision for new / improved products and services, and lead the product development process from ideation to implementation.
  • Collaborate with sponsors, Governing body and business partners to define key objectives, results, and metrics to ensure product investments are optimized based on business value. Manage and prioritize ongoing product investment in partnership with business owners, other product managers, product owners and delivery teams.
  • Drive and leverage market research to identify unmet needs of existing and potential end users / customers and resulting   product opportunities.
  • Develop strong empathy and domain expertise for existing and future personas, goals, jobs to be done and pain points in your assigned business and product lines.
  • Create business cases, epics, product features, requirements and other documentation for new initiatives to support key business objectives, needs, and pain points with focus on the delivery of value to the end users and customers. 
  • Manage the roadmap for the evolution of products and services. Ensure new products and initiatives are measured to assess value creation and further iterative opportunities.
  • Lead design-thinking innovation workshops and other forums to map holistic user journeys, opportunities, gaps, and pain points to address. Represent and advocate for the end-user/customer and the customer experience in the product lifecycle process.
  • Support and inform the definition of new clinical and non-clinical processes and workflows, new patient care standards, policies, procedures, and protocols based on extensive understanding of end users.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Mktg, Training, & Operations to establish and successfully implement a go-to-market plan that adequately reflects, supports, and highlights the features and benefits of new & existing service offerings
  • Regularly monitor and communicate progress, issues, risks, and opportunities to sponsors & Governing body, and drive resolution in collaboration with Project Managers / Core Team as appropriate.
  • Manage direct and cross-functional work in accordance with existing and evolving agile frameworks, product management processes and tools in compliance with company and technology policies and procedures. Collaborate with functional leads to understand & communicate ‘what and who it will take' to achieve portfolio scope, removing roadblocks as needed.
  • Manage/guide/mentor junior level staff with more complex tasks that require a higher level of understanding.

SUPERVISION:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or related field required; Advanced Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:  

  • 12 – 15 years' related experience; or a Master's degree with 10 years' experience; or a PhD with 6 years' experience; or equivalent directly related work experience.
  • Competence leading cross-functional teams in a complex, often ambiguous matrix environment using and embracing Serving Leadership mentality. Able to bring clarity of direction, purpose, and path forward when conditions and circumstances are uncertain and/or unclear. Strong ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Strong business acumen, including ability to connect how and where technology enablement can drive business objectives
  • Confidence working with and influencing Executive leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Analytical and problem solving ability, creativity, ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of success and career progression.
  • Action-oriented mindset to drive progress and value creation.
  • Proficient with PCs, Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced and demanding work context.
  • Experience in Health Care Services preferred.
