Role Summary: Reporting to the Senior Market Intelligence Leader, the Category Manager will own the category management relationship with Lowe's. The Category Manager will drive key growth initiatives leveraging fact-based approach including market trend analysis, category assessment, assortment optimization, planogram development, promotion planning and optimizing the shoppers experience, as well as, elevate GE's presence and impact with Lowe's
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Own the category management process at Lowe's securing the appropriate resources to effectively maximize sales and grow margins for Lowe's and GE.
  • Elevate best in class category management principles driving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work with Consumer Sales and Marketing team members and Lowe's merchant team to maximize POS sales & margin growth for Lowe's and GE.
  • Collect, analyze, interpret and report relevant information sources including: retailer proprietary data sources (Lowe's Link), Nielsen Scantrack, Nielsen Homescan, and other secondary data sets.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with the Research Center of Excellence to lead impactful shopper initiatives.
  • Proactively identify emerging shopper trends, competitive threats and customer opportunities leveraging all available resources making fact-based recommendations to Retailer(s) and GE Account Manager(s).
  • Optimize planograms for shopability, space to sales, capacity and GMROII utilizing ProSpace and other applicable tools and research.
  • Manage demographic database and support requests for data / information.
  • Identify and measure promotional & competitive activities.
  • Understand & measure customer and GE CTQs that are identified.
  • Responsible for development & maintenance of all customer plan-o-grams.
  • Assist in development of annual sales growth and promotional plans.
  • Develop and lead regular customer meetings to provide meaningful insights and fact-based recommendations related to customer solicitation, promotional planning, and line reviews.
    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or related fields
  • 3-5 years of Category Management, Research, or Sales Analytics preferably working for or supporting Lowe's
  • Strong knowledge of consumer products and developing partnerships with national accounts
  • Proficient in sales and marketing development, data analysis, Plan-O-Gram development, ability to conduct complex ad-hoc data analysis
  • Strong working knowledge of Nielsen Scantrack and/or other syndicated data platforms
  • Advanced level analytical and data basing applications experience (Excel and Access)
  • Experience with Space Planning software (JDA Prospace Preferred)
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Prior responsibilities working as a category advisor in support of Lowe's account for a major CPG company
  • 5+ years of demonstrated Category Management success
  • Some understanding of custom research techniques and shopper insights expertise
  • Strong story telling experience converting data into insights
  • Strong strategic planning, organizational, interpersonal skills; must be able to work effectively in teams with high customer focus
  • Excellent leadership, creative problem solving, and project management skills
  • Self-starter, task oriented with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to travel as required for customer meetings, product knowledge events, and other customer-related activities, internal travel to GE Lighting Headquarters
