Description

The Senior Manager of Co-Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring customer demand fulfillment. The leader in this role develops and manages successful execution of effective operational strategy as it relates to external manufacturing activities (incl. production, packaging). This includes adherence to defined metrics of quality, service and cost. This role is encouraged to challenge current functions and processes to help maximize the operational efficiencies through continuous improvement and scalable operation. To achieve department and company set goals, this position requires strong supplier management, contract negotiation, leadership and project management skills. Food industry knowledge is preferred. This position is accountable to ensure compliance of company policies and procedures. This role is responsible for recommending, developing, implementing and managing safety, quality and food safety on all product lines.

In summary, the Senior Manager of Co-Manufacturing provides both strategic and tactical leadership in the field of all external manufacturing areas and ensures the organization is delivering overall supply chain quality, service and cost performance.

  • Establish, manage, and oversee all aspects of the relationship with co-manufacturing partners. Act as a key communication conduit between Ghirardelli teams and other co-manufacturers.
  • Ability to develop strategical supplier network based on business needs.
  • Develop, own and manager annual co-manufacturing budget by working with key Finance partners
  • Partner with Procurement and Legal to manage all contracts related to co-manufacturing operations. Lead all operational aspects of contract negotiation, renewals, compliance, and make modifications as required.
  • Collaborate with and manage cross functional partnerships with R&D, Packaging Eng., Quality, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Procurement etc. for all operational aspects of co-manufacturing initiatives/projects for new product innovations, packaging changes and formulations.
  • Assess current co-manufacturing strategy by routinely conducting risk assessment, on existing partner relationships and proposing improvements or changes if needed to leadership team. Also conduct site-assessments on an ongoing basis
  • Lead the team to execute defined strategy by developing and managing best practice solutions
  • Effectively represent the entire supply chain's interests in cross-functional initiatives
  • Source new co-manufacturing relationships as needed
  • Ensure production requirements are executed successfully and deadlines are met.
  • Drive internal (Ghirardelli) and external (co-manufacturing partners) continuous improvement initiatives with a scorecard process and ensure ongoing compliance with all co-manufacturing performance metrics and improve quality, service and cost
  • Troubleshoot and lead process improvements regarding production issues as they occur
  • Act as a dynamic leader with a passion for inspiring teams to achieve defined goals and passion for driving transformation
  • Act as a trusted business advisor and will demonstrate excellent supply chain leadership.

Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelors degree required; preferably in the area of Supply Chain, Operations Research or similar fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in sourcing and management of external food and/ or beverage production manufacturing relationships
  • Related industry certification a plus (ex: APICS, IBF)
  • Software Skills: Experience with tool-based forecasting and demand planning -- SAP a plus, Proficiency with MS Office required
