*Highland Hospital is seeking a Full Time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (APP) to join its Newborn / Special Care Nursery.  Candidates for this role would work three (3), twelve (12) hour shifts per week (some days and some nights, maybe as much as 40% nights). Also will be a part of the teams holiday rotation.Some duties include but are not limited to:Responsible for direct newborn care including delivery room resuscitation and stabilization, daily care for infants in Special Care Nursery and/or Newborn Nursery. Collaboration with maternal health care providers, nursery staff at Highland and with a pediatrician or neonatologist as defined in the established practice protocols.  Demonstrates confidence, reliability and clinical competence. Able to function independently. Assists with quality assessment and improvement activities.

Requirements

1. Education:  Fulfilled the requirements to be a licensed PA or NP in NYS
2. Experience (minimum required):  Several years as a staff nurse or nurse practitioner in a level II or III nursery
3. License/Certification Required: Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in NYS; Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification (provider or instructor)
4. Skills (to include equipment, software, etc.):  Neonatal resuscitation, neonatal intubation and airway management, umbilical line placement, thoracentesis, evaluation and management of newborn infants.
