Position Overview

The Human Resources Representative is responsible for performing a variety of human resource duties. This person will assist in maintaining the human resource database and all employee records and files. They will provide immediate back up for the Human Resource Manager and assist in all daily activities as assigned. This position will also provide recommendations regarding the development and administration of human resource policies and programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Summary of essential job functions

  • Employee relations including mediation, employee assistance programs, and counseling
  • Process and review employment applications in order to evaluate qualifications or eligibility of applicants
  • Recruit, interview, assist in selecting the best suited, and notify applicants for the required position
  • Assist with administering compensation, benefits, retirement, and cafeteria plans
  • Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits
  • Advise management on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and harassment, and recommend needed changes
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives
  • Assumes responsibility for effectively recording, maintaining, and reporting human resource information
  • Provide assistance in administering employee benefit programs
  • Explain company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees or job applicants
  • Compile and prepare reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities
  • Maintain, update, and monitor employee training records
  • Compile and maintain all training data for training funding requirements
  • Perform general office support functions and assists area personnel as necessary
Skills and Experience

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5 years of prior human resources representative experience
  • Union avoidance or union experience is preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to plan, prepare and present material effectively to Human Resource Manager
  • Knowledge and understanding of laws, regulations and rules governing company and personnel
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations, and personnel information systems
  • Have the ability to remain neutral in all circumstances in order to make fair and impartial judgments
  • Must display professionalism and good judgment as well as strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm are a must within this department
Education Bachelors Degree in Human Resources
