With the leadership of the Occupational Medicine Director and Program Manager, the Billing Specialist provides clerical and administrative functions to the Occupational Medicine clinics, including, but not limited to, charge entry, payment posting and monitoring accounts payable/receivable balances.
Job Summary
The Billing Specialist is responsible for and monitors the quality of patient care information, patient services, and client satisfaction for requested treatment services. Accurately and independently pursues professional development opportunities. Assumes responsibility to assure the daily operations of the business office are effectively and efficiently maintained.
Job Functions
- High degree of visual acuity required with the use of computer systems.
- It is estimated that 80% of an average day is spent performing sedentary activities such as computer work.
- It is estimated that 10-20% of the day involves processing paperwork, filing and communicating with medical providers, patients, and customers/client
Required Qualifications
- Minimum high school graduate, with at least one year college coursework or equivalent experience
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, clients, and co-workers
- Ability to function effectively independently and in an extended team environment
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Good judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to type 40+ words per minute
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Current knowledge of laws and regulations that govern occupational medicine billing
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
- Must have a mode of transportation to travel from various Occupational Medicine clinics when needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated exceptional customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills
- PC skills required with proficiency in Word and Excel; knowledge of Occupational Medicine software (Systoc) a plus
- Two to three years experience in an office/patient accounts management; preferably in healthcare
- Occupational Medicine experience a plus
