• Accurately and efficiently performs a variety of specimen collections and testing as defined by laboratory policy and procedure manuals.
• Determines appropriate equipment to use that will meet the patient's needs.
• Must be able to draw blood from a variety of patient ages utilizing a variety of equipment.
• Communicates with patient care personnel, coworkers and physicians concerning specimen collection and orders.
• Responsible for reviewing orders in a timely manner, maintaining equipment and performing preventive maintenance.
• Also reviews and distributes reports as well as participates in quality assurance programs.
• Maintains accurate supply inventories.
• Responsible for computer data entry, workflow monitoring and assessing the environment to assure patient safety.
